What Is the Interval

It is the space between inhale and exhale, between exhale and inhale.

It is the moment between stimulus and response.

It is the space between what was and what will be - between who you were, and who you are becoming.

It is the beat between seeing the sun rise, and awe escaping the lips.

Not a gap. Not a pause. Not a void.

An interval is the distance between two notes that creates the music. Simultaneously measurable and immeasurable. It holds everything that came before and everything that comes next, while being fully, completely itself.

This is the quality of - Ma. The intentional negative space that gives everything else room to breathe.
